United’s Extension Push Hits a Setback
Manchester United’s attempt to secure Bruno Fernandes on fresh terms has reportedly stalled, with the Portuguese midfielder said to have rejected the club’s latest contract offer.
United made the proposal in late May as they looked to fend off interest from Galatasaray and other European clubs. However, the package has not convinced Fernandes to commit, with the increase described as only €500k more per year.

INEOS are understood to have been involved in the offer, but the situation remains unresolved. Discussions are continuing over the length of any new deal, the salary structure – including the context of Marcus Rashford’s high wages – and whether any release clause remains in place.
Galatasaray Interest Adds Transfer Pressure
Galatasaray are said to be courting the Manchester United captain and could test the Premier League club’s resolve. The Turkish Super Lig side have been linked with a move for Fernandes, while United are reportedly braced for a £43m bid.
The situation is made more delicate by the state of Fernandes’ contract. His current deal runs until June 2027, leaving him with one year remaining, and there is an option for a further 12 months after that agreement expires. As things stand, he could leave Manchester United as a free agent next summer if no extension is agreed.
Galatasaray are also rumoured to be willing to double Fernandes’ current wage at United, increasing the pressure on the Old Trafford hierarchy as they try to keep one of their most important players.
United Determined To Keep Their Captain
Despite the rejected offer and growing external interest, Manchester United remain determined to keep Fernandes. The club’s challenge is to find terms that satisfy the midfielder while protecting their own wage structure and long-term squad planning.
With Galatasaray monitoring the situation and reports of wider European interest, United face a significant decision. Either they secure an agreement with Fernandes, or risk allowing the uncertainty surrounding their captain to develop further as next summer approaches.
