Inter Close In On Curtis Jones After Liverpool Agreement
Inter are moving towards the signing of Curtis Jones after Liverpool granted the midfielder permission to travel for a medical. The clubs have agreed a deal worth €30m plus €5m in add-ons, with Liverpool also keeping a 10% share of any future sale.
The overall value of the agreement is believed to be around €35m when performance-related bonuses are included. Jones is now expected to travel to Italy, where he hopes to complete his medical checks and sign for Inter this weekend.
Jones Deal Follows Months Of Inter Interest
Inter had been working to bring Jones to Serie A since January, but Liverpool had previously been unwilling to move below their €40m valuation. With the player’s contract due to expire at the end of this season, and with Jones determined to begin a new chapter in Serie A, compromises were eventually reached.
The midfielder is set to become the third England international to join the reigning Serie A champions this summer, following John Stones and Djed Spence.

Barcelona Linked With Lautaro Martinez
While Inter prepare to strengthen their squad with Jones, Barcelona have been linked with Lautaro Martinez. The claims follow Atletico Madrid’s refusal to sell Julian Alvarez, who had been Barcelona’s first-choice target and whose potential departure Atletico declined even to negotiate.
Sportingpedia sources in Italy claim that signing Lautaro would be very complicated, but Barça will put all of their efforts into the pursuit. If there is even a minimal chance of him leaving Inter, it would be to join Barça, and that a few days ago, club representatives met with his agent.
Why An Inter Exit Looks So Difficult
Despite the renewed speculation, a transfer appears extremely unlikely. Lautaro is Inter’s captain, their most valuable player and remains under contract until June 2029. The Serie A season also begins this weekend, meaning Inter would need to replace their captain and leading player at very short notice.
The Argentina international is fresh from helping Inter win a domestic Double, lifting both the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia. He has also developed a strong rapport with coach Cristian Chivu, another factor making a late-window move to Barcelona seem implausible.
Lautaro’s agent Alejandro Camano addressed the subject in May 2026, making the player’s position clear.
“Any call I would receive, from any club in the world, I would listen with respect, but the response would be the same. Lautaro is happy at Inter, he said he doesn’t want to move, so there is nothing more to add.”
Lautaro’s Inter Record And Trophy Haul
Lautaro joined Inter from Racing in 2018 for €25m and has since delivered 175 goals and 56 assists in 376 competitive appearances for the Nerazzurri. He has won the Serie A scoring title twice, including last season with 17 goals.
