Nottingham Forest Transfer Push Intensifies as Glasner Hints at More Business Before Deadline

  • Oliver Glasner said that Nottingham Forest could make “at least one more signing” before Tuesday’s transfer deadline
  • Forest announced the club-record £50 million signing of 23-year-old striker Liam Delap from Chelsea on Thursday
  • Forest will face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday, with Glasner saying his focus had shifted to the Premier League fixture

Glasner Leaves Room for More Arrivals

Nottingham Forest head coach Oliver Glasner has suggested the club may not be finished in the transfer market, raising the possibility of further additions before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Forest have already completed five signings, with four of those players having been identified by Glasner as key targets. The head coach had previously been clear that he wanted two more arrivals before the window closed, and the club have made significant progress towards satisfying those plans.

That progress included Thursday’s announcement of Liam Delap, who joined from Chelsea in a club-record £50 million deal. The 23-year-old striker had been on Forest’s radar for some time and was also one of Glasner’s targets at his former club, Crystal Palace.

Delap’s arrival, combined with Glasner’s earlier comments, had created the expectation that Forest would complete only one more deal this summer, most likely for a wing-back. However, speaking on Friday ahead of Forest’s trip to face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday, Glasner changed the tone around the club’s late-window plans.

From Two Targets to “At Least One More Signing”

Glasner had previously been categorical in saying Forest would add only two more players. With Delap now on Trentside, the head coach indicated for the first time that more than one additional signing could still arrive before Tuesday’s deadline.

“As I mentioned, it’s two players [that we wanted to sign],” he reiterated. “One we have added, so I guess it will be at least one more signing.”

The expectation remains that Forest are working to sign Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace. Glasner admitted that an unnamed deal was close, but did not specify Munoz’s name and would not be drawn on speculation surrounding the Crystal Palace player ahead of Forest’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool.

“A deal’s quite close to being done,” he revealed, “But from today onwards, my focus is on the Liverpool match.”

Munoz Offer, André Talks and Sarr Progress

Nottingham Forest are pushing ahead with several transfer targets as they look to strengthen the squad before the window closes. Multiple sources report that the club have submitted a £20m offer, plus £2m in add-ons, for Crystal Palace right wing-back Daniel Munoz.

Forest are also working on a move for Brazilian midfielder André. According to Fabrizio Romano, talks with Corinthians are already underway as the Premier League side try to agree the structure and final details of the deal.

Progress has been made on another front as well, with Pape Matar Sarr also on Forest’s radar. Sacha Tavolieri reports that negotiations with Tottenham have advanced in recent hours, with a paid loan including an option to buy among the possibilities being discussed.
