Roma Push For Late Attacking Reinforcement

Gian Piero Gasperini remains keen to add another winger before the summer transfer window shuts on Tuesday evening, and reports in Italy suggest Roma have made significant progress in their pursuit of VfB Stuttgart wide player Jamie Leweling.

Several Italian outlets have named Leweling and Zenit St Petersburg winger Luiz Henrique as serious options for the Giallorossi during the closing stages of the market. Transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà has reported that Roma and Stuttgart already have a total agreement for Leweling, with the Bundesliga club said to have approved the Germany international’s departure.

Luiz Henrique is still described as a possible target, but talks with Zenit are reported to have slowed in recent hours. By contrast, negotiations with Stuttgart have moved forward, making Leweling appear an increasingly realistic option for Roma before the deadline.

Chelsea Enter Kone Conversation In Final 48 Hours

At the same time, Roma are facing late interest in midfielder Manu Kone. Today’s reports state that Chelsea have begun talks with the France international’s representatives as the Premier League side assess midfield options in the final 48 hours of the summer transfer window.

The market will close on September 1, but Serie A clubs still have several inbound and outbound situations to resolve. Kone has attracted attention throughout the summer after impressing for the France national team at the 2026 World Cup, while Roma have also been linked with the need to raise funds because of their financial fair play position.

Manchester United had previously been linked with Kone before securing deals for Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba. More recently, Manchester City and Real Madrid have shown interest, although neither club has submitted a formal offer.

Chelsea have now added Kone to their shortlist of possible midfield signings. Fabrizio Romano reports that the London club have contacted the player’s agent and that Kone is one of two midfielders currently being considered at Stamford Bridge, along with Monaco’s Lamine Camara.

Roma’s Position On Kone

Roma’s position remains that they do not want to lose Kone, particularly so late in the window. The Giallorossi have not received any formal proposals for the 25-year-old, who is reportedly valued in the region of €60m.
