Jordan Henderson on the verge of joining Ajax

The rumours sending Jordan Henderson from the Saudi league to Ajax are intensifying. Fabrizio Romano reports that contats between both parties have been in contact yesterday, but there is no finalized deal yet. Henderson joined Al-Ittifaq from Liverpool in the summer of 2023 but just 6 months later is ready to move to a new club again.

Henderson has played 17 matches this season for Al-Ittifaq and has provided 4 assists, but is yet to score his 1st goal. He joined the club from Liverpool in an €18 million deal. Henderson spent the major part of his career with the Reds, playing in 492 matches across all tournaments, with a return of 33 goals and 61 asstist. He was appointed as Liverpool’s captain in 2015 and went on to win the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League a year later. He was also part of the England squad who reached the Euro 2020 final which the Three Lions lost to Italy. On a personal level Henderson won “Footballer of the year” award in the Premier League in 2020.

His experience might be exactly what Ajax need, after a disappointing 2023/24 campaign so far, as they sit in 5th place in Eredivisie 23 points adrift of league leaders PSV.
