Bayern Munich eliminates Lazio thanks to a Harry Kane double

Bayern Munich dominated and won 3:0 against Lazio in the return leg of their Champions League tie at the Allianz Arena. Alongside PSG, now Bayern awaits their potential opponents at the quarter-finals. Once again it was Harry Kane who was the key figure for the Bavarian giants, scoring two goals in the crucial victory on Tuesday night. Thomas Muller also helped with a goal, further securing Bayern’s position in the next round.

While commenting on the match’s importance, Harry Kane expressed hope that the victory could serve as a catalyst for the team as they navigate through the remainder of the season. The current campaign has seen Kane in remarkable form, with the England captain achieving an impressive tally of 33 goals in as many appearances across all competitions. Last night, the striker became the first British player to score over 50 goals in UEFA competitions. With 51 goals, he hass surpassed legends like Steven Gerrard, who scored 41, and Wayne Rooney, with 40. Meanwhile, Bayern’s veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer equaled Iker Casillas’ all-time record for the most clean sheets in the Champions League, marking his 57th shutout in the competition across 136 games.

The victory also presented young star Jamal Musiala with a chance to share his thoughts on how important it was for the team during a tough time. He highlighted the team’s strong desire to keep going in the Champions League and not get knocked out too soon by saying: “None of us wanted to go out of the Champions League this early!”
