Manchester City’s Champions League campaign thrives on ‘Three goals a charm’ mantra

The defending champions Manchester City have turned the number three into their lucky charm this season in the Champions League. Last night, they defeated FC Copenhagen 3-1 at home in the return leg of their 1/8 finals clash and advanced to the next stage with an aggregate win of 6-2. City have maintained a flawless victory march through all eight matches they have played so far, with each victory featuring exactly three goals from Pep Guardiola’s side. The consistent scoring record comes to show Manchester City’s formidable attacking power, and the diverse range of players finding the back of the net highlights how well balanced the team is.

As the club eagerly awaits the draw for the Champions League final stages next Friday, the spotlight also falls on the individual contributors to City’s 24-goal tally in the tournament. The Norwegian scoring machine Erling Haaland leads the way with 6 goals, followed closely by the World Cup winner Julian Alvarez with 5 and Phil Foden with 4. Goals have come from every area of the field, including one apiece from defender Manuel Akanji and midfielders Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, and Bernardo Silva. Micah Hamilton, Jeremy Doku, and Oscar Bobb have also scored a goal each.
Manchester City fans and players alike will now happily embrace “Three is the magic number” as their rallying cry for this year’s Champions League journey.
