Ralf Rangnick negotiates with Bayern but the fans have other plans

Bayern Munich is close to securing Ralf Rangnick as their next manager, with Thomas Tuchel set to leave at the season’s end. Discussions between the 65 year old specilist who will lead Austria at the upcoming Euro 2024 and Bayern are reportedly at an advanced stage, focusing on the club’s long-term vision and Rangnick’s potential role in shaping it.

Salary and financial terms are not stumbling blocks, instead, the tactician is keen on understanding the club’s future projects, including planned signings and outgoings. His desire to have a significant say in decision-making alongside the board will be crucial for accepting the job.

Rangnick has confirmed the ongoing talks, stating, “Bayern have made contact, and I’ve informed the Austrian Federation about it.” But he also expressed his contemplation about the role, adding, “If Bayern will tell me: we want you… then I have to ask myself: do I want this at all?”

Despite being the favourite, Rangnick’s potential appointment has not been warmly received by all, as evidenced by a fan petition against his hiring. Nearly 10,000 Bayern supporters have signed it, preferring to see Tuchel continue, rather than Rangnick taking over.
