Alvaro Morata to sign with AC Milan after leading Spain to Euro glory

Alvaro Morata is on the verge of joining AC Milan, with the Italian club set to trigger his €13 million release clause from Atletico Madrid. After a challenging period in Spain, Morata has verbally agreed to a four-year contract with the Rossoneri, marking a fresh start in Serie A.

In the next 48 hours, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid will finalize the formal documents for the striker’s transfer. Following the completion of these formalities, Morata is scheduled for a medical examination, after which he will sign a deal that will keep him at Milan until 2028.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has played a significant role in bringing the Spaniard to AC Milan, advocating for the Euro 2024 winner as the preferred option. Negotiations for other potential strikers, such as Romelu Lukaku, were never advanced claims Fabrizio Romano, as Milan’s board, especially Ibrahimovic, was keen on securing Morata.

Atleti’s president, Cerezo, commented on the transfer, stating, “Atleti’s a club where if players want to stay, we are more than happy… Otherwise, if players don’t want to stay, they are allowed to leave.”

With Morata’s transfer nearing completion, AC Milan will now shift their focus to other targets, including Tammy Abraham, Pavlovic, and Youssuf Fofana, as they continue to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
