Bayern start the season with convincing victory, no place for Leon Goretzka in the squad

Bayern Munich is set to make it clear to Leon Goretzka once again that he will have limited opportunities in the midfield this season. Despite the club’s stance, Goretzka has consistently expressed his desire to remain at Bayern and fight for his place in the squad. Discussions between the player and the club are expected to continue in the coming days.

The competition for midfield positions at Bayern is intense, with manager Vincent Kompany having a wealth of options at his disposal. Joshua Kimmich, Konrad Laimer, Joao Palhinha, and Aleksandar Pavlovic all vying for spots in the starting lineup, making it increasingly difficult for Goretzka to secure regular playing time.

Last week, Bayern Munich made significant changes to their squad by finalizing deals that sent defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to Manchester United. These moves have further shown the club’s intent to restructure and strengthen its roster.

The situation surrounding Goretzka has sparked debate among Bayern fans. A recent survey conducted by BILD, in which over 70,000 fans participated, revealed a divided opinion. 59% of respondents believed that excluding Goretzka was the wrong decision by the club, while 41% supported the decision, suggesting that the midfielder no longer has a future at Bayern.

While Goretzka’s future remains uncertain, Bayern’s focus on the pitch continues to deliver results. The Bavarian giants secured a convincing 4-0 victory against Ulm in a DFB-Pokal match on Friday. Thomas Müller led the charge with two goals, an assist, and a Man of the Match performance in Vincent Kompany’s first competitive game at the helm of the club. Kingsley Coman and Harry Kane also found the back of the net, contributing to the dominant win.
