Hansi Flick: “Lewandowski is the best”, as Polish striker goal extends Barcelona’s winning streak to seven games

Barcelona continued their perfect start to the La Liga season with a narrow 1-0 home victory over Getafe, courtesy of a Robert Lewandowski goal in the 19th minute. The Polish striker has been in sensational form, with 7 goals in 7 La Liga matches so far this season, further cementing his status as one of the best in the world.

Barcelona’s manager, Hansi Flick, has made a remarkable start to his tenure, winning all 7 of the club’s La Liga games, collecting 21 points in the process. Under his leadership, Barcelona have scored 23 goals and conceded just 5. Reflecting on Lewandowski’s contributions, Flick was full of praise for the veteran forward: “Robert Lewandowski has been the best centre striker in the world for the last 10 years. His job is to play in front and score goals, and he does that. Simple!”

However, Ansu Fati’s absence from the match drew questions, but Flick was quick to clarify his decision. “Ansu is at 100%, but the match was tough and we decided to bring other players” he explained, indicating that the forward’s exclusion was purely tactical.

Meanwhile, Barcelona defender Joules Kounde expressed his admiration for Flick’s impact since taking charge. “We can see since day one that Hansi Flick is a world-class coach” Kounde said. “We, as players, are enjoying the training sessions and the matches under Flick, for sure.”

In other news related to Barca, Wojciech Szczesny has been confirmed as the replacement for the injured Marc-Andre ter Stegen. The Polish goalkeeper is set to sign a one-year contract with Barcelona. Szczesny’s medical tests are scheduled to take place in Spain in the coming days as he prepares to step in for ter Stegen, who is expected to miss the next several months due to injury.
