Doncic leads Dallas past Orlando, Adam Silver hints at All-Star Game format changes

The Dallas Mavericks secured a decisive 108-85 win over the Orlando Magic on Sunday, thanks to a commanding performance by Luka Doncic, who racked up 32 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists. Daniel Gafford added 18 points, Kyrie Irving contributed 17, and Dereck Lively II recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, rounding out the Mavericks’ strong showing. Elsewhere the New Orleans Pelicans fell 126-111 to the Atlanta Hawks, despite Brandon Ingram’s 32-point effort, while the Detroit Pistons topped the Brooklyn Nets 106-92.

Meanwhile, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced that the league is evaluating potential changes to the All-Star Game format for the upcoming February showcase in San Francisco. Last season’s record-breaking game lacked intensity, leading Silver to emphasize a renewed focus on creating a competitive, entertaining event for fans. He hinted at exploring non-traditional formats and has sought input from players like Stephen Curry and the National Basketball Players Association. From player drafts to untimed quarters, the NBA has experimented with different formats, and this season’s efforts aim to deliver an exciting, fan-focused experience that revitalizes the spirit of the All-Star Game.
