Deschamps leaves Mbappe out of France squad for Italy and Israel clashes

Kylian Mbappe will not feature for France in their upcoming games against Italy and Israel, as Didier Deschamps has chosen not to call him to the squad. Despite Mbappe’s eagerness to join the team, Deschamps explained, “I had discussions with Kylian and made my decision. It’s better this way. Mbappe wanted to come with us, it’s not because of any other problem.” This decision follows Mbappe’s absence during the previous international break, which was attributed to a minor injury.

Mbappe’s form has been under scrutiny recently, as he has scored just one goal in six matches since the beginning of October. His dip in performance has sparked debate, with many speculating on whether rest or tactical changes could help him regain top form. At the international level, Mbappe remains a cornerstone of France’s success since making his senior debut in 2017, accumulating 86 appearances so far. His absence this time underscores the importance of managing both form and fitness in a demanding football calendar.
