L.A. Lakers send Bronny James to South Bay in the G-League

Bronny James has been assigned to the G-League’s South Bay Lakers, where he will debut on Saturday in a matchup against Salt Lake City. The decision from the Los Angeles Lakers leadership aims to provide the 20-year-old guard, and son of LeBron James, with valuable playing experience and skill development. Selected as the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Bronny made his NBA debut on October 23 in a 110-103 victory over Minnesota, playing alongside his father and recording a single rebound in nearly three minutes on the court. He also featured in a game against Cleveland, scoring the first two points of his career in a 110-134 defeat. Bronny’s stint with South Bay will see him playing only home games, with the flexibility to move between the G League and NBA if needed by the Lakers.

Meanwhile, the Lakers have more challenges to navigate, as star forward Anthony Davis is dealing with plantar fasciitis in his foot. Davis is listed as probable for the Lakers’ upcoming clash against the 76ers on Friday night. NBA insider Shams Charania noted, “This is a nagging foot injury that he’s been dealing with since the end of last season”.

Currently sitting in 10th place in the Western Conference standings with a 4-4 record, the Lakers are seeking to end a string of consecutive losses and regain momentum as they navigate player transitions and injury management.
