Celtics edge Bucks despite Antetokounmpo’s 43 points, Mathurin’s career-high 38 points help Indiana to defeat New York

The Boston Celtics secured a 113-107 victory over the Bucks in Milwaukee, despite a stellar 43-point performance from Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Bucks struggled to provide additional scoring support, with Bobby Portis contributing 15 points off the bench and Damian Lillard managing 14. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with a strong showing of 31 points and 12 rebounds, while Payton Pritchard added valuable support from the bench with 18 points. Five of the Celtics roster scored 14 or more points. The win lifts Boston to a 9-2 record, while the Bucks’ rough start has placed them in 14th position in the Eastern Conference standings at 2-8.

In another matchup on East, the Indiana Pacers defeated the New York Knicks 132-121 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Despite Jalen Brunson’s impressive effort, with 33 points and 10 assists, and Karl-Anthony Towns’ 30-point contribution, the Knicks fell short. Bennedict Mathurin led the Pacers with a standout 38-point performance, while Tyrese Haliburton added 35 points and 14 assists, coming back from a scoreless game in the previous meeting with New York. The Pacers’ superior three-point shooting, hitting 21-for-46 compared to the Knicks’ 7-for-25, proved decisive. Now the Pacers are 3rd in the standangs with 5-5 balance, while the Knicks are in 5th spot with a record of 4-5.
