Manchester City blow three goal lead, extending winless streak to six games in 3-3 draw with Feyenoord

Manchester City failed to win after leading 3-0 until the 75th minute, drawing 3-3 with Feyenoord in yet another disappointing Champions League outing. Pep Guardiola’s team squandered a commanding lead, conceding three late goals that exposed their defensive frailties. It was for the first time in what was the 942nd game of his managerial career, Pep Guardiola saw his side fail to win a match after leading by three goals. The draw, while breaking a five-game losing streak, extended City’s winless run to six matches and leaves them languishing in 15th place in the standings.

Erling Haaland’s two goals initially appeared to set City on course for a much-needed victory, but their inability to manage the game in the final stages allowed Feyenoord to salvage a point. Guardiola admitted the result was “painful” highlighting the team’s lack of confidence and stability as key factors in their ongoing struggles.

Defensive errors and poor decision-making have become a hallmark of City’s recent form, and Guardiola’s frustration was evident. His admission of scratching his face during the game added a bizarre element to the ongoing drama surrounding the team’s decline. Guardiola now faces mounting pressure to deliver solutions and restore stability to a squad that looks increasingly fragile.

City will have little time to recover, with a high-stakes Premier League clash against league leaders Liverpool looming on Sunday. As Guardiola searches for answers, the team must address their defensive vulnerabilities and rediscover the winning mentality that once defined their success.
