Sengun with triple-double in Rockets overtime win, Spurs eliminate Jazz from NBA Cup

The Houston Rockets secured the top spot in West Group A in the NBA Cup with a 115-111 overtime victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Alperen Sengun recorded a triple-double of 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists to lead Houston. Fred VanVleet added 27 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds, while Dillon Brooks chipped in 22 points. Amen Thompson hit a crucial three-pointer to tie the game at 102-102, setting up an 11-0 run in overtime that sealed the Rockets’ win. Anthony Edwards topped the charts for the Timberwolves with 29 points, but Minnesota was unable to keep up in overtime, falling short despite a strong effort.

In another NBA Cup matchup, the San Antonio Spurs eliminated the Utah Jazz from contention with a 128-115 win. Victor Wembanyama inspired the Spurs with a dominant performance, scoring a game-high 34 points, 24 of which came in the first half. Stephon Castle matched his career-high with 23 points, supporting Wembanyama’s efforts. For Utah, Keyonte George led with 26 points, while John Collins and Collin Sexton each contributed 20 points. With the loss, the Jazz dropped to 0-3 in the group after losing five of their last six games.
