Trae Young’s 22 assists help Hawks hand Cavaliers first home loss

The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 135-124, snapping Cleveland’s undefeated home streak this season. Trae Young led Atlanta with a career-high 22 assists, complemented by 20 points and a crucial late-game three-pointer to seal the win. De’Andre Hunter scored 26 points, including five three-pointers, while Jalen Johnson contributed 22 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Rookie Zaccharie Risacher and Bogdan Bogdanovic each added 17 points for the Hawks.

Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 30 points, and Evan Mobley added a strong double-double with 22 points, 12 rebounds, five steals, and three blocks. Despite their efforts, Cleveland struggled defensively, allowing the Hawks to register 39 assists on 46 field goals, including 20 made three-pointers.

The Hawks overcame an early 19-point deficit, snapping their three-game losing streak and handing the Cavaliers their second overall loss this season. Cleveland head coach Kenny Atkinson acknowledged the poor performance, calling it “a stinker” and lamenting the team’s defensive struggles in front of their home fans. The two teams are set to meet again in Atlanta for a “Black Friday” NBA Cup game, with the Cavaliers aiming for redemption.
