Zidane tipped to replace Luis Enrique at PSG amid mounting pressure

PSG’s Champions League campaign has put Luis Enrique’s future as head coach in jeopardy, with reports suggesting that the club will consider sacking him if the team fails to qualify for the knockout stages. The Spaniard took charge of PSG in July 2023, signing a contract until the summer of 2024, but his tenure could be cut short if results don’t improve.

The pressure intensified after PSG’s 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich on Tuesday. Following the defeat, Enrique took responsibility, stating, “When defeats come, there is a great desire to attack, and I repeat: if there is anyone to blame, it is me.” The Parisians currently sit in 25th position in the Champions League standings with just four points after five rounds, leaving their qualification hopes in jeopardy.

In anticipation of a possible managerial change, PSG is reportedly lining up Zinedine Zidane as Enrique’s replacement. Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has long dreamt of winning the Champions League, and Zidane’s unparalleled success in leading Real Madrid to three consecutive titles makes him an attractive candidate. The French legend’s potential appointment could symbolize PSG’s determination to finally achieve European glory.
