  • Roma’s owners are actively working to convince Carlo Ancelotti to take over the club after the season ends
  • Dan and Ryan Friedkin see the Italian manager as the key figure to elevate Roma to the European elite
  • Ancelotti has strong ties to Roma, where he played between 1979 and 1987, but has never coached the team

Roma’s owners are making a serious push to bring Carlo Ancelotti back to the club, this time as head coach. According to AS, Dan and Ryan Friedkin believe they can attract a second high-profile manager, following their appointment of José Mourinho in 2021. Reports from Spain suggest that Ancelotti is likely to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, which has encouraged Roma’s pursuit. The Friedkin family aims to establish the club among Europe’s elite, and they consider Ancelotti the ideal candidate to achieve these ambitions.

The Italian has a deep-rooted connection with Roma, having spent eight years at the club as a player from 1979 to 1987. He has always expressed admiration for the team and the city, but he has never managed Roma in his coaching career.

For now, Ancelotti remains focused on fulfilling his contract with Real Madrid. However, if both parties decide to part ways at the end of the season, Roma’s owners are prepared to make their move.
