Serge Gnabry to return to Germany squad for Nations League finals

Bayern Munich and Germany winger Serge Gnabry

    Key Takeaways:

  • Serge Gnabry is set to return to the German national team after last featuring in November.
  • Niclas Fuellkrug will also be called up, replacing injured Tim Kleindienst.
  • Nick Woltemade earns first senior call-up, despite plans to play at U21 Euros.

Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry will return to the German national team, reports Bild. According to the publication, national team coach Julian Nagelsmann will include Gnabry in the squad for the Nations League finals, scheduled to take place from 4 to 8 June on home soil. Germany will face Portugal in the semi-finals. Gnabry last played for the national team in November. He missed the quarter-final clash with Italy in March due to inconsistent performances for Bayern.

Bild also states that forward Niclas Fuellkrug will return to the squad as Borussia Moenchengladbach striker Tim Kleindienst is sidelined with injury. Fuellkrug has not appeared for Germany since September 2024, as he has been dealing with Achilles tendon issues that have affected his form.

Meanwhile, Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade is set to receive his first call-up to the senior national team. The striker is expected to feature in the U21 European Championship in Slovakia in June but has made it clear he has no objections to playing in both tournaments.
