Milan to try signing childhood fan Luka Modrid

    Key Takeaways:

  • Milan are pushing to sign Luka Modric after his Real Madrid departure
  • New sporting director Igli Tare has contacted the Croatian veteran
  • Modric has been a Milan fan since childhood, confirmed by Zvonimir Boban

Milan will try to sign Luka Modric, claims Fabrizio Romano. The Real Madrid legend is a free agent after leaving the Spanish giants, and the new sporting director at Milan, Igli Tare, has made it a goal to bring him to San Siro.

Tare has already contacted Modric to understand whether the 39-year-old midfielder is interested in the possibility of wearing the Rossoneri shirt. The new head coach of the team, Massimiliano Allegri, also views the Croatian’s potential arrival positively.

Considering that Milan will not have to pay a transfer fee for Modric, the club will be able to offer him a proper salary. Potential sponsorship deals are also expected to help cover the veteran’s wages.

After leaving his homeland, Modric spent four years at Tottenham and a full 13 years at Real Madrid, becoming the most decorated footballer in the club’s history.

As a child, Modric supported Milan. This was confirmed by his former teammate and ex-Milan star Zvonimir Boban.

“Luka is a real Milanista. He liked the team ever since childhood and always wanted to play here, but he never received a serious offer. Modric had no intention of leaving Real after one bad season,” Boban told milannews.it.
