    Key Takeaways:

  • Carlo Ancelotti will make his debut as Brazil coach in the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Ecuador
  • The manager aims to unlock Vinicius Junior’s full potential with the national team
  • Brazil sits 4th in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with 21 points from 14 matches

Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti wants to get the best out of Vinicius Junior’s potential in the national team setup. The two have won the Champions League and La Liga twice together at Real Madrid and will now work side by side for the five-time world champions.

“I don’t know if he has shown his best here so far, but there is still time for that. Just like he does at Real Madrid,” said Ancelotti ahead of Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Ecuador on Thursday. That match will mark Ancelotti’s debut as national team coach.

Vinicius made his World Cup debut in Qatar and has been a regular starter during Brazil’s qualification campaign for the 2026 tournament. However, his recent form for the national team has not been at its highest. The pacey winger has played a total of 39 matches for the Seleção, scoring just 6 goals.

Brazil currently occupies 4th place in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, having accumulated 21 points from 14 matches.
