Manchester City recorded a comfortable win in their first match of the group stage at the Club World Cup, currently taking place in the USA. Pep Guardiola’s side had no difficulties against Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca and secured a 2:0 victory. Both goals came before the break and were scored by Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku.

In the second half, Wydad had more opportunities to score but ultimately failed to beat Ederson.

The Citizens finished the match with 10 men after Rico Lewis received a direct red card for a rough challenge in the 88th minute. It was the first red card of the youngster’s career. New signings Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki made their official debuts for City, both starting the match.

In their next two group stage games, the English team will face Juventus and Al-Ain.
