The prosecutor’s office in Paris also confirmed that two judges have been appointed to investigate the accusations made by the Real Madrid forward, according to a source close to the case.
Mbappe filed his complaint in Paris on 16 May, accusing PSG of extortion and attempted blackmail aimed at forcing him to sign a new contract with the club during the summer of 2023. At that time, Mbappe was removed from the first team and made to train with the youth players, missing the first matches of the season. This practice, often seen in football clubs, involves excluding players from the senior squad and is already the subject of several investigations in Paris.
A similar procedure has been launched following a complaint by 35-year-old Kheira Hamraoui against PSG. The player, who now plays for Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia, claims the club isolated her after her recovery from injury in an attempt to force her to leave, according to a source close to the case. PSG is not the only club facing such allegations.
As early as January 2024, the Union of Professional Footballers filed a complaint against unnamed clubs, accusing them of extortion and blackmail through the use of so-called “lofts” – a method used to isolate players and “maximise transfer prices.” In addition to the criminal case, Mbappe is also involved in a financial dispute with PSG, demanding nearly €55 million in unpaid wages.
