From loan to limbo – Juventus try to keep Conceicao without triggering €30M clause

Portuguese winger Francisco Conceicao during his loan spell at Juventus

    Key Takeaways:

  • Porto show openness to lower Conceicao’s price
  • Juventus propose €22M on top of previous €8M paid
  • Sancho talks could block permanent deal

Porto’s management is reportedly open to reducing the asking price for winger Francisco Conceicao to enable a permanent transfer to Juventus, according to various media outlets. The Portuguese spent the past campaign on loan with the Bianconeri, where he delivered solid performances, registering 7 goals and 6 assists across 40 appearances. Juventus paid a fixed fee of €7 million for the loan, with an additional €3 million in potential bonuses, of which around €2 million have already been met.

The deal between the two clubs includes a €30 million buyout clause, valid until the middle of this month. After that deadline, the clause automatically rises to €45 million. Juventus, however, have submitted a proposal of €22 million, which would bring the total to €30 million once the previous payments to Porto are factored in.

Initially, Porto rejected the offer, but have since shown readiness for renewed talks and a possible reduction in their demands. One of the key reasons is Juventus’ ongoing negotiations for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho. Should that transfer materialise, it could severely limit the chances of Conceicao remaining in Turin on a permanent basis.
