Reports state that the two clubs have agreed on a deal for the 28-year-old Liverpool player, with Bayern set to pay a fixed fee of €70 million plus an additional €5 million in easily achievable bonuses. The player himself has expressed his desire for the transfer to go through and has already received permission to travel from Liverpool’s training camp in Tokyo to Munich for the mandatory medical checks, which are expected to take place later today.
Diaz will sign a four-year contract until 2029 and will earn around €14 million gross per year at Bayern, which is significantly higher than his current salary in England. The Colombian was not included in the squad for the friendly match against AC Milan yesterday, which Liverpool lost 2–4. If all goes well, he is expected to make his debut for Bayern as early as Saturday in the friendly against Lyon.
Liverpool have agreed to the sale as they need to complete several outgoing transfers, considering the large sums already spent this summer on new players. The Merseyside club are now expected to focus on the signing of Alexander Isak from Newcastle. Bayern, for their part, have not given up on the idea of signing Stuttgart talent Nick Woltemade.
