Hato is expected to arrive in London in the coming days to undergo medical examinations and finalise the documentation for signing a long-term contract. He is also considered a viable option on the left side of defence, where Marc Cucurella played close to 70 matches last season for Chelsea and the Spanish national team.
The defender will become Chelsea’s seventh new addition this summer, following the arrivals of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Estevao Willian, Dario Essugo, and Mamadou Sarr.
Chelsea have continued their aggressive rebuilding project under the new management, having already spent over €250 million this summer. The club also sanctioned the departures of several senior players and remains among the most active sides in the transfer market.
