The Eindhoven side were trailing after a goal from Mathis Suray in the 35th minute for Go Ahead, but managed to turn the match around. Gerrit Nauber scored an own goal, and American defender Sergino Dest secured the win with a strike in the 84th minute, bringing joy to the home fans at the fully-packed Philips Stadion.

The new Eredivisie season kicks off this weekend. The 2025/26 opener between Fortuna Sittard and yesterday’s losing side Go Ahead Eagles is scheduled for Friday. PSV will begin their campaign on August 9 with a home match against Sparta Rotterdam.
