Key Takeaways:

Bayern Munich Pivot to Lookman After Jackson Setback
Bayern Munich have turned their attention to Atalanta’s Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman by tabling a loan bid, after a move for Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson fell through at the last minute. Jackson was poised to join the Bundesliga champions and had even travelled to Munich for a medical subsequent to Chelsea’s approval. However, following an injury sustained by Liam Delap in Chelsea’s weekend fixture, the London club rescinded their agreement, stalling the proposed switch.
In the wake of the collapse, Bayern have reportedly contacted Atalanta with a loan offer for Lookman. The German side’s proposal is said to include an option to purchase set at €28 million (£24m/$32m).

Bayern Face Stiff Resistance as Competition Mounts
The suggested purchase clause in Bayern’s offer would reportedly become mandatory if Lookman reaches a certain number of appearances while on loan. Lookman had engaged in preliminary talks with Inter, but Atalanta opposed a domestic move and Inter were unable to meet Atalanta’s terms, resulting in the deal’s collapse. Despite Lookman displaying an interest in securing the transfer, Atalanta have so far rejected several approaches, including Bayern’s.
Interest in Lookman is not limited to Germany. Tottenham Hotspur and Galatasaray have both made contact with his camp. Atalanta turned down a proposal from Tottenham, holding out for a €50m (£43m/$58m) valuation for the 27-year-old forward, who remains contracted until 2027 but is keen to move on during the current summer window.
Club | Bid Type | Offer Amount | Status |
---|---|---|---|
Bayern Munich | Loan with option to buy | €28 million (£24m/$32m) | Rejected by Atalanta |
Tottenham Hotspur | Permanent transfer bid | Undisclosed (Atalanta demand €50m) | Rejected by Atalanta |
Inter | Transfer talks | Did not meet terms | Deal collapsed |
Future Remains Uncertain for Lookman
With strong interest reportedly persisting from Bayern, the club are attempting to conclude the transfer before the current window closes. If no agreement can be reached for Lookman to depart Bergamo, there is a risk he could be left out of the matchday squad and face a period of inactivity until the winter transfer period.
