Key Takeaways:
- Endrick Felipe, sidelined since May, is targeting a return between mid-September and October
- Gonzalo Garcia has featured as a substitute in all three of Real Madrid’s La Liga matches so far this season
- Valencia will revive their interest in signing Endrick on loan ahead of the January transfer window
Forward Competition Intensifies Under Alonso
Real Madrid’s attacking department has become increasingly crowded this season under Xabi Alonso, with Gonzalo Garcia adding himself to the mix and no senior departures taking place. Alonso has, so far, typically preferred a two-striker system, with Franco Mastantuono operating from the right, making first-team opportunities scarce for several forwards.
Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes have alternated in starting roles alongside Kylian Mbappe in the club’s three La Liga fixtures to date, while the Frenchman’s place in the side has appeared undroppable. Garcia has featured as a substitute in all three top-flight encounters, adding further competition for minutes up front.

Uncertain Future for Endrick Felipe
Gonzalo Garcia’s growing presence has cast further doubt over Endrick Felipe’s prospects in the squad. Although Juventus and AC Milan explored a loan for Endrick during the summer transfer window, the Brazilian was determined to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu. The 19-year-old has been ruled out with a recurring hamstring issue since May and is expected to return to action sometime between mid-September and October. Endrick has therefore not yet had a chance to impress Xabi Alonso.
Endrick last featured for the club in May, in an away match against Sevilla, when he started next to Mbappe, but was replaced in the 58th minute without scoring.
Valencia Plot January Loan Approach
Valencia reportedly made an enquiry for the Brazil international during the recently closed summer transfer window and intend to follow up ahead of January. Manager Carlos Corberan is keen to boost his attacking options, with Hugo Duro currently the only recognised number nine at his disposal. The failed pursuit of Umar Sadiq has left Valencia relying on Lucas Beltran and Arnaut Danjuma, who are capable of playing centrally but are not out-and-out strikers. The acquisition of Endrick could offer much-needed depth and opportunity for the young Brazilian to see more regular minutes.
