La Liga leaders Barcelona took a huge step towards winning the league title after completing a remarkable comeback to secure a 4-3 victory against visiting Real Madrid in El Clasico of the 35th round of the Spanish top flight.

The match started perfectly for “Los Blancos” with two goals from Kylian Mbappe (5’, 14’), but before the break, the Catalans struck four times through Eric Garcia (19’), Lamine Yamal (32’), and Raphinha (34’, 45’), who scored twice. In the second half, Mbappe (70’) completed his hat-trick, but his team could not avoid defeat. The match will also be remembered for controversial refereeing decisions involving several penalty incidents and disallowed goals.

This is Barcelona’s fourth consecutive win over Real Madrid this season, with the previous victories being 4-0 in the first half of the league, 5-2 in the Spanish Super Cup final, and 3-2 after extra time in the Copa del Rey final. Such a streak in this rivalry within a single season is unprecedented.

With their fifth straight league victory, Barcelona have now reached 82 points, holding a seven-point lead over their current opponents with three rounds remaining. This means that a win in the upcoming city derby against Espanyol would guarantee them the title.

Real Madrid remain second with 75 points, as their four-match winning streak in the league came to an end.
