    Key Takeaways:

  • Newcastle United have set their sights on Borussia Dortmund duo Gregor Kobel and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens
  • The Magpies are in the market for a new top-class goalkeeper, with Kobel’s €60 million release clause being a key factor
  • Borussia Dortmund may be open to selling Bynoe-Gittens, who has drawn interest from Chelsea and Arsenal as well

Newcastle United have identified two Borussia Dortmund players as summer transfer targets, with the Magpies closely monitoring goalkeeper Gregor Kobel and winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. According to Bild building on information from the Daily Mail, Newcastle scouts have watched the two players repeatedly in recent weeks and have recommended making a move for them.

The Magpies are actively searching for a top-class goalkeeper, and 27-year-old Swiss international Gregor Kobel has emerged as a prime target. His contract with Borussia Dortmund includes a €60 million release clause. Newcastle are also considering Burnley’s James Trafford as an alternative, with the English goalkeeper potentially available for around €36 million.

Meanwhile, the 20-year-old English youth international Jamie Bynoe-Gittens has scored 12 goals and provided 5 assists in 48 appearances this season. Despite his potential, the winger has been used more frequently as a substitute by head coach Niko Kovac over the last three months. This has reportedly made Borussia Dortmund more willing to negotiate a sale, with a price tag between €50-60 million. Chelsea and Arsenal are also interested in Bynoe-Gittens.
