Pierre Kalulu stays at Juventus as club weighs Tudor future

Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu

    Key Takeaways:

  • Juventus made Pierre Kalulu’s stay permanent by triggering Milan buyout clause
  • The defender signed a new contract until 2029 on his 25th birthday
  • Igor Tudor increasingly likely to remain Juve coach after Conte and Gasperini fall out of contention

Pierre Kalulu will remain at Juventus permanently, the Bianconeri have announced. The defender spent the past season on loan from Milan with a purchase option. Juventus have now confirmed that they have activated that clause, making the Frenchman their player outright. The option was worth €14 million, plus an additional €3 million in potential bonuses. Juventus had already paid €3.3 million for the initial loan.

The transfer comes on Kalulu’s 25th birthday. His new contract with Juventus runs until 2029 and includes a salary of €2.4 million per season. Kalulu made 39 appearances for the Old Lady during the 2024/25 campaign. He is currently with the French national team and will join Juventus at the FIFA Club World Cup afterwards.

Meanwhile, the likelihood of Igor Tudor staying permanently as Juventus head coach is increasing following his meeting on Wednesday with the club’s new general manager, Damien Comolli, according to the latest reports from Italy. Juventus are still considering their coaching options after failing to reach an agreement with their former boss and Scudetto winner with Napoli, Antonio Conte. Gian Piero Gasperini, another candidate for the Bianconeri job, is now set to take over Roma from Atalanta.

With Conte and Gasperini no longer in the picture, Juventus are turning to their “alternative” options, including Tudor, who was appointed interim coach after Thiago Motta was sacked in March. The Croatian’s contract was automatically extended to summer 2026 after securing Champions League qualification, but the club can still terminate the agreement by paying a release fee.
