  • Al-Ain’s only goal was ruled out for offside in the second half

Juventus had a thunderous start to their Club World Cup campaign, thrashing Al-Ain 5:0 in their opening match in Group G. The Bianconeri demonstrated class and speed, completely dismantling their opponents in the first half by scoring four of their goals before the break.

Kolo Muani opened the scoring with a header in the 11th minute, and ten minutes later Francisco Conceicao doubled the lead for the Turin side. In the 31st minute, Kenan Yildiz added his name among the scorers with a spectacular long-range effort, and just before halftime Kolo Muani found the net again for 0:4. In the second half, Conceicao completed the final score of 0:5 with his second goal of the match.

After Kolo Muani’s goal, the Old Lady imposed full control. Conceicao made it 2:0 after a fine solo effort, and Yildiz made it 3:0 with a masterful strike that ricocheted off the post. Kolo Muani finished the job with another goal right before the interval.

In the second half, Al-Ain tried to get back into the match and even managed to put the ball in the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside. In the 58th minute, Conceicao put the result beyond doubt with Juventus’ fifth goal.

Until the final whistle, the game was more balanced, with both sides having opportunities. Di Gregorio saved a shot from Nassim Chadli in the 86th minute, and Douglas Luiz came close twice for Juve — the first attempt flashed past the post, and the second hit the upright.

With the convincing win, Juventus lead Group G with 3 points and a goal difference of 5:0. Manchester City also have 3 points, but with a more modest 2:0 win over Wydad Casablanca. Al-Ain remain bottom of the group with no points.
