Granit Xhaka pushing for Milan move but Bayer Leverkusen aim to limit further key exits

Bayer Leverkusen Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka

    Key Takeaways:

  • Granit Xhaka is pushing hard to join Milan before the end of his career
  • Bayer Leverkusen reluctant to sell after already offloading Wirtz, Frimpong and Tah
  • Milan would need to pay around €15 million despite already signing Luka Modric

Granit Xhaka is doing everything he can to secure a transfer from Bayer Leverkusen to Milan. The Swiss international does not want to miss the chance to wear the shirt of one of Europe’s biggest clubs, especially at such a late stage in his career.

The problem for Xhaka is that Leverkusen have already parted ways with some of their stars, including Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Jonathan Tah. Because of that, Bayer are not planning to sanction further sales of key players.

To complete the deal, Milan would need to pay around €15 million. It is uncertain whether the Rossoneri management are willing to put up that amount, particularly in light of the fact that the club has already secured the services of Luka Modric.

Xhaka will turn 33 in September. During the past season, he featured in 33 Bundesliga matches and proved that he is still capable of playing at the highest level.
