stadium project.
Lotito has been in charge of the club since 2004, when he effectively saved the Biancocelesti from bankruptcy under former owner Sergio Cragnotti. However, his rule has also been marked by controversy — most notably this summer, as Lazio failed to pass three separate financial stress tests. As a result, the club is under a transfer embargo. They are not allowed to sign any players, including free agents, until January 2026, unless Lotito injects fresh capital into the club. The president insists such a move is unnecessary.
The protest continued with a group representing the ultras, who met with political figures to discuss the stalled stadium project.
Lotito has been attempting for years to redevelop the existing Stadio Flaminio into a dedicated stadium for Lazio, but the city council claims it has been waiting for several months for documents that have yet to be provided.
On Wednesday morning, the club issued an official statement denying rumours that Lazio has been put up for sale.
