Real Madrid cautiously plan new deal for Vinicius amid dressing room concerns

    Key Takeaways:

  • Real Madrid are working on extending Vinicius Junior’s contract beyond 2027
  • A new wage increase may exceed Mbappe’s and Bellingham’s salaries
  • The club aims to avoid dressing room tensions while satisfying the player

Real Madrid’s management is actively working on extending the contract of one of its brightest stars – Vinicius Junior, reports Spanish newspaper AS. The Brazilian winger’s current deal runs until the summer of 2027, but the Santiago Bernabeu hierarchy is already considering a further extension. At the same time, they are approaching the situation with great caution to avoid creating tension in the dressing room.

Vinicius arrived at the club as an 18-year-old and signed an initial contract with a salary of 1.2 million euro per year. In 2022, that agreement was renewed, raising his wage to 4.7 million euro per season, with scheduled increases tied to performance objectives. This means that by 2027, his salary could reach as high as 15 million euro annually.

This is where the main dilemma lies for the management. The club wants to retain the winger on a longer-term deal, but another substantial salary increase could disrupt the delicate balance within the squad. The issue is that such a wage would exceed what new signing Kylian Mbappe and fellow star Jude Bellingham earn, potentially prompting them to seek equal treatment.

On their part, Vinicius’ representatives have not remained passive. They have reminded the club that Mbappe received a significant signing bonus when he joined – a sum which, if distributed across the years of his contract, effectively constitutes additional pay.

Negotiations between the two parties are ongoing, with Real Madrid’s leadership tasked with finding the golden mean – satisfying Vinicius’ demands without unsettling the internal order and balance of the squad.
