Tottenham Hotspur have announced they are offering continued support to Destiny Udogie and his family after the defender was reportedly threatened with a firearm by a football agent. The club’s statement follows a BBC Sport report on Monday, which disclosed that an unnamed Premier League footballer was targeted during an incident in London on 6 September.

According to the Metropolitan Police, another individual was also allegedly blackmailed and threatened during the same episode. Thankfully, authorities stated that no-one suffered injuries as a result of the incident.

A 31-year-old suspect was taken into custody on 8 September by Metropolitan Police officers on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail, and driving without a licence. The individual has subsequently been released on bail while inquiries remain ongoing.

In an official statement on Tuesday, Spurs said: “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”
