Chelsea Step Up Koné Pursuit
Chelsea have stepped up their deadline-day pursuit of Manu Koné (25), submitting a €65 million offer to AS Roma for the France international. Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini does not want to lose the midfielder and considers him non-transferable, leaving the final decision with Koné and the Friedkin ownership.
Koné has been on the radar of major English clubs this summer. His standing rose further after a couple of eye-catching performances for France at the 2026 World Cup.
Manchester United had also been credited with interest in Koné, but it ended when the Red Devils ultimately chose to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton.

Camara Link Cools as Koné Emerges as Priority
Lamine Camara, another Chelsea target, was viewed as the Blues’ plan B if they failed to secure their preferred midfield option.
However, the direction of Chelsea’s business now appears clearer. Koné is understood to be the priority target, while interest in Camara has cooled over the past 24 hours.
Roma’s Winger Search Adds Further Context
Roma are also managing their own transfer priorities. The Giallorossi had hoped that an offer worth €35m plus add-ons to VfB Stuttgart would be enough in their pursuit of Jamie Leweling, but the player rejected both Roma and Everton.
As a result, Roma have turned their attention to Jamie Bynoe-Gittens of Chelsea. The Italian club had set aside a package of €35m plus €5m in bonuses to bring in a new attacking winger for coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
