Cristiano Ronaldo to finish 2023 as the top goal scorer in the world surpassing Mbappe, Kane, and Haaland

Cristiano Ronaldo will finish 2023 as the footballer with the most goals during the calendar year. Even at 38 years, the Portuguese legend is not slowing down and continues to set the pace when it comes to scoring goals. Ronaldo scored a brace against his close friend Karim Benzema’s Al-Ittihad in an entertaining 5:3 victory on Monday. The two goals rounded CR7’s tally for 2023 to 53 strikes, 1 more than Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane whose teams have no more games before the turn of the year and 3 more than Erling Haaland. The Norwegian sensation is currently injured and missed Manchester City’s latest few matches. He is not expected to feature in City’s last game for 2023 on 30th of December when Pep Guardiola’s side meets Sheffield United.

The achievement will make Ronaldo the first player who has ended as the best goal scorer in a calendar year in three different decades, after his previous wins in 2008 and 2015.

Cristiano was presented as Al Nassr player on 4th of January. His first game for the club was a 1:0 victory over Al Ettifaq on 22nd January, but the Portuguese legend failed to open his scoring account. Ronaldo’s first goal as Al Nassr player came on 3rd of February via a last minute penalty kick.

Besides Ronaldo’s 53 goals in 58 matches in 2023, he has also delivered 15 assists. He will have the chance to add to these numbers on Friday when Al-Nassr will play its final game for 2023 against Al Taawon.
