The highly-rated Alessandro Buongiorno is set to remain with Torino at least until the summer

Urbano Cairo, the president of Serie A club Torino has publicly denied any rumours linking the 24-year old defender and captain Alessandro Buongiorno with a transfer to another team. He also confirmed Buongiorno’s desire to remain with Torino for the rest of the season.

According to the platform Whoscored, Buongiorno is the highest-rated defender in Serie A so far in the 2023/24 season, averaging a grade of 7.27 which puts him in front of Inter’s trio of Dimarco, Acerbi and Bastoni. The Torino defender is valued at €22 million by Transfermarkt and has a contract running to 2028 with a reported salary of €1.4 million. In the summer of 2023 Buongiorno, a product of Torino’s youth academy rejected a €25 million transfer to Atalanta.

Throughout the 2023/24 season, Torino’s captain has played 19 games in all tournaments in which he has scored 3 goals and provided 1 assist.
