Igor Tudor to take charge of Lazio

Igor Tudor will become the new manager of Lazio, stepping in to fill the void left by Maurizio Sarri’s departure. Sarri’s exit came in the wake of Lazio’s elimination from the Champions League, culminating in a heavy 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich. Tudor is in the final stages of signing a contract that will see him lead the club until June 2025, with an option to extend for one more season.

His coaching career path shows stints at seven teams, including two spells with Hajduk Split, and stints with PAOK, Karabukspor, Galatasaray, Udinese, Verona, and, most recently, Marseille. Tudor’s tenure with these clubs has been marked by relatively short periods, with his longest spell being his first appointment at Hajduk Split.

Tudor led his latest club, Marseille, in 48 competitive matches between July 2022 and June 2023, achieving 27 wins, 7 draws, and 14 losses. His team ended in 3rd place in Ligue 1, 12 points behind the champions from PSG. As the Croatian specialist prepares to take on this new role, Tudor, who will celebrate his 46th birthday next month, brings a fresh perspective to Lazio’s ambitions.
