Monterrey humiliate Inter Miami. Messi, Suarez & Co. out of the Champions League

Mexican side Monterrey have eliminated Inter Miami from the CONCACAF Champions League with an aggregate score of 5:2. Last night Messi and Inter Miami suffered a 3:1 loss, with the Argentine superstar providing the assist for his team’s sole goal. It was scored too late – in the 85th minute, with the outcome of the match already decided, as Monterrey were 3:0 up.

The 1st leg of their quarter-final clash had finished in 2:1 win for the Mexicans, but Messi missed it through injury and now the hopes were that he will be able to influece the game and help Inter win. None of that happened, with Monterrey taking more than comfortable 3 goal lead until the 64th minute. Inter Miami relied on all of their four former Barcelona players – Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Leo Messi, and Luis Suarez but they were unable to create anything meaningful. On the contrary, Jordi Alba was sent in the 75th minute, demonstrating Inter’s helplessness.

Inter Miami will now focus on their performances in MLS, where the team occupies 3rd place in the Eastern Conference, having collected 12 points from 8 matches.
