Sergio Conceicao resigns from Porto with Marseille’s managerial position in sight

Sergio Conceicao has decided to leave FC Porto, activating the exit clause in his current agreement. The decision marks the end of an era for Porto, as Conceicao has been a key figure in the club’s recent successes since taking over in 2017.

Porto has already initiated the search for a new head coach, preparing for Conceicao’s imminent announcement of his departure. According to reports from Portuguese media outlet Record, Marseille is pushing to secure the former midfielder as their new manager. The French club has presented an important proposal and project to Conceicao, who is now weighing this opportunity. The 49 year old specialist is no stranger to French football, having previously managed Nantes from December 2016 to June 2017 before joining Porto.

During his tenure at Porto, Conceicao led the team in 377 matches, securing three Portuguese league titles and four Portuguese Cups among other trophies. His leadership and tactical acumen have been instrumental in Porto’s domestic and European campaigns.
