    Key Takeaways:

  • The club is urgently searching for a new head coach ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup on June 14
  • Cesc Fabregas is a leading candidate, but Como remain confident in keeping the Spaniard

Inter president Giuseppe Marotta insisted that the club is “strong” and will be able to “overcome this unexpected and difficult moment” following the crushing 5–0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final and the subsequent departure of head coach Simone Inzaghi. The situation has left the club urgently searching for a new head coach, with the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup fast approaching, kicking off on June 14.

Cesc Fabregas has been mentioned as the frontrunner to replace Inzaghi, but Como remain confident the Spaniard will continue with his current project. While some Inter executives are in London to work on potential deals, Marotta remained in Italy on Wednesday to attend the funeral of former club president Ernesto Pellegrini.

The president did not directly address the ongoing talks with Fabregas or the broader coaching search but reassured that the club remains stable and will be able to “get through” the difficult past week.

“Inter is strong. We will be able to overcome this unexpected and difficult moment, which does not scare us. We are working for the good of Inter and will always do so with the passion, determination, and sense of belonging that we have consistently shown over the past years,” said Marotta.
