European club champions Paris Saint-Germain thrashed Real Madrid 4–0 in the second semi-final of the FIFA Club World Cup. That was the least Los Blancos got away with in the clash at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. Two goals from Fabian Ruiz and one each from Ousmane Dembele and substitute Goncalo Ramos sealed PSG’s total dominance, setting up a showdown with Chelsea for the prestigious trophy.

In the 4th minute, PSG almost opened the scoring when Fabian Ruiz fired a shot from inside the penalty area, but Courtois made a brilliant save. Moments later, the French side threatened again through Hakimi, who delivered a perfect pass for Dembele, only for the winger to be denied by a phenomenal reaction from the Real Madrid goalkeeper.

In the 6th minute, Raul Asensio made a costly mistake, gifting the ball to Fabian Ruiz with Courtois out of position. The Spaniard scored into an empty net – 1:0 for PSG. Just three minutes later, Rüdiger committed a childish error that left Dembele one-on-one with Courtois. The PSG winger finished precisely to double the lead – 2:0.

In the 25th minute, PSG launched a lightning-fast counterattack. Hakimi once again delivered the perfect pass, this time for Fabian Ruiz, who kept his composure and sent the ball into the net – 3:0 for PSG.

In the 38th minute, Mbappe fell dramatically in Real Madrid’s box after being dispossessed by Joao Neves. The referee ruled there was no penalty. In the second minute of first-half stoppage time, a PSG corner ended with the ball falling to Nuno Mendes, who charged into the area and unleashed a powerful shot, but Courtois was alert and saved.

Immediately after, Dembele attempted to lob Courtois from distance, but the Belgian keeper again made a spectacular save.

In the 48th minute, Kvaratskhelia found Dembele, who played a perfect through ball to Desire Doue. He scored with one touch, but the goal was disallowed for offside. In the 72nd minute, Goncalo Ramos got on the end of a good pass from Hakimi, but the striker’s shot was off target.

Five minutes before the end of regular time, Modric whipped in a great corner which Militao headed just wide. Moments later, Militao tried a long-range effort, but Donnarumma reacted well to deny him.

In the 88th minute, PSG launched another quick attack. Barcola picked out Goncalo Ramos, who entertained the crowd with some footwork in the penalty area before unleashing a shot that left Courtois with no chance – 4:0 for PSG. Ramos dedicated his goal to the late Diogo Jota, celebrating in his style.
