Interestingly, the Dukes had been planning to extend Chivu’s deal until the summer of 2027 and had even started negotiations on that topic. Despite that, they gave the green light for Inter officials to get in touch with the representatives of the former Romanian international. Chivu is also interested in returning to Giuseppe Meazza as head coach of the first team. The Romanian is strongly connected to the Milan giants, having spent seven years as a player between 2007 and 2014, before coaching various youth squads at the club from 2018 to 2024.
Chivu’s first opportunity as senior manager came only in the second half of last season, when he was appointed by Parma. He was handed the difficult task of securing the team’s Serie A status and succeeded with three wins, seven draws, and three defeats across 13 matches, leading the “Crusaders” to a 16th-place finish in the standings.
Chivu is expected to sign a two-year contract with Inter on a salary of €2 million per season. Meanwhile, the other option for the Nerazzurri bench – Patrick Vieira – will also sign a contract until the summer of 2027, but with his current club Genoa.
