Marcus Rashford is ready to join Fenerbahce after a phone conversation with his former manager Jose Mourinho, reports Turkish outlet Fotomac. The two worked together between 2016 and 2018, when the Portuguese coach was in charge of Manchester United, and Rashford scored 28 goals in 125 matches under his leadership.

The English forward is among the Manchester United players actively looking to leave Old Trafford this summer, and a transfer to the Turkish giants appears increasingly realistic.

The 27-year-old striker was loaned out to Aston Villa in January following a conflict with current manager Ruben Amorim. Although there had been strong interest from Barcelona, Fenerbahce now look set to become the leading contender for his signature. The Turkish club are expected to submit a loan bid with an option to buy, with talks scheduled for later this week.

Fenerbahce, who appointed Mourinho last year, finished second in the Turkish Super Lig behind Galatasaray and are planning an aggressive recruitment campaign this summer. The club has already brought in Sofyan Amrabat and Jhon Duran.

Meanwhile, Rashford has returned to United’s pre-season training, but is working individually after being given extra time to sort out his future.
