Key Takeaways:

  • Hojlund became open to a move back to Serie A
  • Milan progressed in talks for a €6M loan with €45M buy option
  • Young Boys’ right-back Athekame set for €10M move to Milan

Milan’s persistence in trying to convince Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund to join them is finally starting to pay off. According to Fabrizio Romano, the player himself has changed his stance regarding a potential departure from the Red Devils and is now willing to return to Serie A as Milan are making progress in negotiations with his club. The Rossoneri’s plan remains the same: a loan deal worth €6 million with full coverage of the Denmark international’s salary, as well as a €45 million purchase option.

This puts the Milan giants close to securing their desired new striker, while the 22-year-old Hojlund would receive more playing time than if he stayed at Old Trafford for the new season.

Meanwhile, Milan have reached an agreement with Young Boys for the signing of right-back Zachary Athekame. The deal between the two clubs is worth €10 million, with the Swiss side also set to receive 10% of the fee from his next sale.

In the coming hours, Athekame will arrive in Milan for his medical tests, after which he will sign a five-year contract. This will give the Rossoneri the needed reinforcement at right-back after parting ways with Davide Calabria, Emerson Royal and Alessandro Florenzi. It also means the club can now focus all their efforts on bringing in Rasmus Hojlund.
